United Motors to produce three new Zotye Chinese car.
United Motors Lanka PLC develops its assembly Zotye Chinese car with a plan to introduce three new models, including a sports utility vehicle SUV soon, a senior official of the company.
Chanaka Yatawara, CEO Executive Director of United Motors, told the Business Times that the vehicle assembly operation was undertaken by a subsidiary Unimo Enterprises Ltd UEL in a factory in Ranala, Orugodawatte.
Unimo Enterprises Ltd. sells a range of automotive brands ranging from compact cars Perodua Malaysia, Zotye midsize SUV and commercial vehicle tires JMC Yokohama China and Japan.
The company also managed to get right in the car assembly industry to assemble the Zotye brand while it has also taken steps to expand its operations to accommodate the assembly of some of the other brands sold by the company, he added.
He disclosed that at present, it produces van Zotye for the local market.
The company has invested Rs 100 million in the auto assembly plant on a plot of two acres in Ranala.
Although the factory has a production capacity of 300 units per month, it currently produces 20 units per month, he said, adding that two of Zotye threenew models will be launched this year in May and July.
