China is now the largest new car market in the world and thanks to generous government incentives, it is also one of the largest markets for electric plug-in cars.
However, most electric cars sold there aren t available in the U S.
Despite some trials, Chinese automakers have been unable to establish an important foothold in the market U S.
DON T MISS BYD electric cars can triple sales this year, says Chinese manufacturer.
Not exactly, according to a recent study of 2016 Geely Emgrand EV sedan published by the motoring magazine Auto Express U K.

The reviewer found the EV Emgrand to be a competent electric car, but not a world beater.
Geely now owns Volvo, and the London Taxi Company LTC, maker of the iconic black cab in London.
But now the Chinese company wants to sell cars in Europe under its own brand name.
The Emgrand EV is essentially an electric version of the Emgrand EC7, which Geely tried unsuccessfully to launch in the U K in 2012.

Instead of EC7 the gasoline engine with 4 cylinders, the EV Emgrand uses an electric motor with 127 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, and a block of lithium-ion batteries 44 8 kilowatts-hour.
The sedan will do 0 to 62 mph to 9 9 seconds and reach a top speed of 87 mph by Auto Express.
Geely claims a range of 253 kilometers 157 miles, as measured on the notoriously optimistic European test cycle.
Auto Express has found the range in the real world was far below that figure.
According to the magazine, the direction was well balanced with a good atmosphere, the race was comfortable, and the acceleration was better than in gasoline Emgrand EC7.

He also noted the aggressive braking recovery, something many electric car drivers have come to prefer.
The exterior styling was considered bland, while the interior has received praise for its soft-touch materials, but nothing else.
With its rather dated platform, the Geely Emgrand EV was probably never going to be much more than a placeholder.
But Geely is expected to use the new modular platform CMA compact architecture for future Volvo models, some can get plug-in electric powertrains.

Maybe these models will prove more competitive outside China strongly encouraged market.
